The Parthemore ethic of caring extends to a broader community. Soon after September 11, 2001, Steve Parthemore joined other national members of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) as an NFDA Volunteer in aiding an extended community of disaster response professionals by traveling to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Lower Manhattan.

Steve served on site as part of the Family Assistance Core Group and issued death certificates to the survivors' representatives allowing them to apply for much needed benefits and released remains to the funeral homes. This was the first time in history when death certificates were provided shortly after death with no remains recovered. Upon recovery of remains, a new amended death certificate was issued.

The Parthemore family was honored to be part of this dedicated effort to support the local authorities and the families of the victims. After his experience, Steve was accepted as a member of DMORT and its Family Assistance Core Group and continues his volunteer work with DMORT across the U.S. and abroad.
