Joseph C. Brinley, Jr.
January 18, 2010
Joseph C. Brinley, Sr., 84, of Fairview Twp. died Monday January 18, 2010 in his residence with his family at his side.
He was a retired butcher with Shaffer’s Abattoir, New Cumberland and Karn’s Food Stores, New Cumberland and West Shore Plaza locations. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, collecting coins and canning. Mr. Brinley was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church; American Legion Post 143, where he gave sixty-five years of continuous service; and VFW Post 7415, all of New Cumberland.
He was born in Fairview Twp. to the late George & Mary Brinley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Brinley.
He is survived by his four daughters, Deborah Gornik of Harrisburg, Barbara Parmer of Harrisburg, Jacqueline Nix of Porter, IN and Frances Brinley of New Cumberland; two sons, Joseph C. Brinley, Jr. of Middletown and Frank Brinley of Lewisberry; seventeen grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday January 21, 2010 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be one hour prior to services Thursday in the funeral home.
