| Joyce Mary Davison, 84, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, peacefully at her home. |
| She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, Religious Moderator after 25 years of service to the Council of Catholic Women, and was Coordinator of the Ecumenical World Day of Prayer. She was also active in leadership roles in other organizations including Meals on Wheels, New Cumberland Army Depot Women's Club and the Harrisburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Joyce was a member of the Trinity College Alumnae Association, Harrisburg Foreign Policy Association and the Friends of the New Cumberland Public Library. She was a 1942 graduate of Towson, MD, Catholic High School, obtained her B.A. in 1946 from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. and she taught at Southern High School, Baltimore, and St. Dominic's School in Lisbon, Portugal. |
| Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Ellen Schneid. She was the widow of Col. Evan Ross Davison, U.S. Army Ret. and was also preceded in death by her brother, Walter Schneid. |
| Surviving are five sons, Paul M. of Newburyport, MA, Mark C. (Mary) of Canandaigua, NY, Peter E. (Melanie) of Pittsford, NY, John W. of Pittsford, NY, and James A. (Lenka) of Prague, Czech Republic; a sister, Joanne Gorman of Binghamton, NY; eight grandchildren, Paul, Christopher, Casey, Matthew, Kathleen, Rebecca, Sara and Jakub. |
| Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday in her church with the Rev. Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be held 6 – 8 PM Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. |
