Denise Ann (Carroll) Sellars, 49, of New Cumberland, PA died suddenly on Sunday, February 21, 2010 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.
Denise was born in Harrisburg to the late Harry and Roberta (Fleming) Carroll. She was a 1978 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and a former employee of the Commonwealth of PA, Department of the Treasury.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Richard P. (Rick) Sellars; two brothers, Harry R.J. Carroll and wife Doris of Lewisberry and Timothy W. Swan and wife Sandra of Oceola, PA; her sister Michelle Carroll of New Cumberland; her sister-in-law Lee Zerbe and husband Michael of Philadelphia; six nieces, Allison Zerbe of New York, Elizabeth Denson of Alexandria, VA, Cameron Chelsea Carroll of Lewisberry, Tory Patricia Swan and Shelby Lyn Swan, both of Oceola, PA and Scarlette October Carroll of New Cumberland; two nephews, Larry Carroll, Jr. of Mechanicsburg and Joel Timothy Swan of Oceola; and a great niece, Ruby Denson of Alexandria, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Larry R. Carroll and a sister Patricia Carroll, both of whom were from New Cumberland.
Denise was a member of the West Shore YMCA for many years and enjoyed the many activities offered there. She was also a member of the New Cumberland VFW Post 7415. She participated in many, many fundraising walk-a-thons and events. She was very kindhearted and well loved in her community. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Her favorite destination was St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands where she and Rick would visit annually with their lifelong friends, Cheryl and Mike Arnold and their son, Zach.
A Celebration of Denise’s life will be held on Saturday February 27, 2010 at 2 pm in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Pieper as Celebrant. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. In keeping with Denise's love of life and upbeat spirit, you are encouraged to please wear casual, colorful attire.
