Lt. Col. David J. Farr, U.S. Army, Ret., 90, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was retired from the U.S. Army and served during the years spanning WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. He then went on to serve the Agency for International Development through the U.S State Department, worked as a consultant to disabled individuals, served on the PA State Committee to make buildings accessible to individuals with disabilities, and was the owner/operator of Holy Spirit Creations. Col. Farr was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland where he formerly served as an Extraordinary Minister and was a member of West Shore Lodge 681 F&AM, Camp Hill.
He was born in Chicago, IL on April 20, 1920 to the late Harold and Elsa (Conguer) Farr.
Col. Farr was the widower of Merry (Hjort) Farr and Rose Marie (Wieger) Farr and is survived by his daughter Karen F. Keller, her husband Steve, and granddaughter Rebecca of Silver Spring, MD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Thursday, April 29, 2010 in his church with the Rev. James E. Lease as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 pm Thursday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Inurnment with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp.
