Virginia D. Powers, 86, of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 01, 2010, at the home of her son and daughter in law, Thomas D. and Sandra R. Powers of Lower Paxton Twp.
She was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at Syracuse University and Hospital, Syracuse, NY, and at the Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, NY; a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School and a 1945 graduate of Wyoming Valley Hospital Nursing Program, Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. Powers was born on April 28th, 1924, the daughter of the late Dr. Ben and Mabel (West) Davis. She was the widow of William J. Powers and was also preceded in death by her son, Richard D. Powers.
In addition to her son and daughter in law, she is survived by a sister, Joy Edelman of Oakland, NJ; a brother, D. Allen Davis of Lemoyne; a granddaughter, Tanya D. Powers.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp., with Pastor Steve Grosvenor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 617 16th Street, New Cumberland PA 17070.
