Mark F. Passaro, 85, of Camp Hill died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital.
A 1942 graduate of Allentown High School, he was a WWII Army Veteran; he also served seventeen years in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a retired partner from the former W&M Printing Company, Mechanicsburg. Also among his vocations were Public Relations Director of the PA Motor Federation (State AAA Assn.); and Sales Manager for the Allentown firm of L.F. Grammes and Sons. He was a Past President of Lehigh Valley Fish & Game Association, Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association, and Rotary Club of the West Shore. He was a member of Robert Burns Lodge No. 464, F & AM, Harrisburg; Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; Pennsylvania Public Relations Society; Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce; and the Pool League at the Mechanicsburg Senior Center.
He wrote a column from 1958 to 1961 called Sportsman’s Memo for the Allentown Morning Call. He received his Pilot’s license at the age of 57. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed traveling, and Penn State football.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma DeFord Passaro; four children, Mary V. Merhar of Hickory, NC, Linda S. Wighaman of East Petersburg, Mark F., Jr. of York Springs, and Steven D. of Mechanicsburg; seven brothers and sisters, Pauline Lombardo, Gordon, Theresa, Joseph, John, Evelyn Kloiber, and George, all of the Allentown/Lehigh Valley area; ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10:00 am until funeral services at 11:30 am Tuesday, June 15, at his church. Private burial at Ft. Indiantown Gap will be held at the convenience of the family.
