Robert E. "Red" Kane
July 17, 2010

Robert E. “Red” Kane, 80, of New Cumberland, died Saturday July 17, 2010 in Harrisburg Hospital.

 

Red was a retired Road Foreman for Fairview Twp. and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill; Lowther Manor Lodge 781, Camp Hill; Harrisburg Consistory AASR; Zembo Shrine and its Oriental Band; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest 43; American Legion Post 974, Fairview Twp.; and the New Cumberland Fire Department Auxillary.

 

He was born in West Wyoming, PA to the late Michael and Mary (Bailey) Kane.  He was the widower of Lois (Jones) Kane and was preceded in death by a sister Marie Zarzecki, and two brothers, Howard Frear and Donald Kane.

 

He is survived by his wife Mary (Eisel) Kane; a daughter Debra Kane Altland and husband David of York Haven; a son Scott Allen Kane, USMC of Camp Lejeune, NC; a stepdaughter Saundra Coe and husband Daniel of Ashland, OH; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 23, 2010 at 11 am in his church.  Visitation will be from 9am until time of service Thursday in the church.  Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.

They say with time that the pain lessens but what will ease the pain is fond memories you carry with you each every day and the love for him that you should always carry in your heart. Although he is gone he is still with you daily as he lives on within each of you that loved and cared for him. Each of us will a fond memory of Bob. I always enjoyed how he laughed when I would say you should of checked with us first. It was something that only friends could express to each other.
