Audrey A. (Deckman) Kister

Audrey A. (Deckman) Kister, 84, of Marysville, died Monday, August 12, 2019 surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late George Wilbur and Viola Mae (King) Deckman, she was born on July 30, 1935 in New Cumberland.

Audrey was a graduate of New Cumberland High School (’53) and went on to work for AMP, Harrisburg, as a secretary. She was active in the community; she served as secretary treasurer for Seidle Park Recreation Center and also as secretary treasurer for the “Couples for Christ” class at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. Audrey was especially proud of her perfect voting record, and she was honored with a plaque for her civic diligence. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles. Audrey found raking leaves and shoveling snow to be quite relaxing, and she loved dinner dates with her husband at the Dutch Apple Theatre, Lancaster.

Audrey is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Grant “Wes” Kister; her children, Starr L. Driver (husband, Robert E.) of Camp Hill, and Scott D. Kister (wife, Tracey) of Enola; five grandchildren, Jason and Justin Driver, Robert S. Gehrke, Jr., and Brandon W. and Kenny E. Kister; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Chase and Andrew; and a sister, Donna Bowman (husband, Thomas). She was preceded in death by four siblings and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. A public viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
