Edward W. Smith

March 29, 1946 — April 2, 2019

Edward W. Smith, 73, of New Cumberland, PA and formerly of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in his residence.

He was a retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army serving for 23 years in both the US Air Force and US Army spanning the Vietnam War era. Upon retirement from the Army he worked with the PA Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution, Camp Hill, PA.

He was a proud member of the NRA; enjoyed reading, watching old movies on TV, tending to and nurturing his miniature red rose bush, and was a real car enthusiast. Ed was a very private, quiet, plain and simple man.

Ed was born in Kittanning to the late David Paul and Helen Elizabeth (Hindman) Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norabel (Wolfe) Smith; son Curtis Keith Yount and wife Barbara of Wasilla, AK; siblings, Arthur B. Smith of Goodyear, AZ, David Paul Smith, Jr. of Kittanning and D. Esther Maycock of Worthington, PA; granddaughter Cayla Yount; step grandchildren Chris Faeo and Maggie Furrer; seventeen great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.

An entombment service of committal will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Armstrong County, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Ed’s memory to PA Wounded Warriors, Inc. 1117 Country Club Road Camp Hill, PA 17011.
