Obituary for George S. Mixell

George S. Mixell, 97, of Newville and formerly of New Cumberland, died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Green Ridge Village, Newville.

He retired as a store keeper for the former New Cumberland Army Depot, New Cumberland; a WWII Army veteran serving with the 158th Bushmasters and a recipient of the Bronze Star; a member of VFW Post 477, Carlisle.

George was born on June 13, 1921, in Enola, and was the widower of Mildred E. Mixell and was also preceded in death by a son, M. David Mixell.

Surviving are a son, Stephen D. Mixell of East Berlin; a daughter-in-law, Diane M. Mixell of New Cumberland; three grandsons, Samuel, Richard and Michael; two great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp. at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, (www.heartlandhospice.com/York), 3417 Concord Road C, York, PA 17402. Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.
