Jack Leon Henning

July 28, 1937 — June 8, 2019

US Navy Veteran Jack Leon Henning, age 81, passed peacefully at his home in Etters, PA. Born on July 28, 1937 in Lebanon PA, Jack left our physical world on June 8, 2019 surrounded by his family. Jack enlisted in service to our country immediately following high school. After deployment on four separate ships, including USS Midway, USS Harry E Hubbard, USS Kodiak and USS Colette, Jack received an honorable discharge in 1962. Then he embarked on his lifelong career as a Benefits Director for some of America’s largest corporations, including Walt Disney Company in Burbank, CA.

Jack made a lasting impression on all he met through his feisty personality and quick wit. His mischievous humor and unwavering strength of character will forever remain in the hearts of those who will remember him for a lifetime. His favorite story to tell involved he and his siblings running through the corn fields, stealing corn and trying to escape the farmers and their rubber hoses. Quite the troublemaker.

One of 13 siblings, Jack is survived by four of his sisters: Nancy Sanger, Erma Suckow, Linda Vernon and Sue Pagano. Jack and his beloved wife, Suzanne Fagan Henning of Etters PA, celebrated 38 years of marriage. His family continues through his three children: Scott Henning and his wife Lorna, John Henning and his wife Jessica and Amanda Magaro and her husband Shawn. Jack adored his four grandchildren: Sandra(Scott), Hadley (John), Grayson(Amanda) and Samuel(Amanda).

In honor of Jack’s dedication to the United States Navy, he will receive a Burial-At-Sea aboard a grand Navy ship out of Norfolk, VA. There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 13, 2019 4:00-8:00pm at The Mill in Hershey: 810 Old West Chocolate Avenue Hershey PA 17033. (themillinhershey.com/)

In support of his fellow veterans and the selfless Hospice staff the family has requested donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Freedom Service Dogs of America (freedomservicedogs.org/and Homeland at Home (www.homelandathome.org/).
