Maryjane (Marhefka) Guise

Maryjane (Marhefka) Guise, 94, of Lemoyne, and originally of Shamokin, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Spring Creek Rehab Center, Harrisburg. Daughter of the late Frank L. and Sara (Spartzer) Marhefka, she was born on September 12, 1925 in Shamokin.

She graduated from East Stroudsburg University, and continued at Bucknell University where she received a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She ended up teaching at her alma mater high school in Shamokin. She swam competitively and coached for many years, and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shamokin. She and her late husband traveled extensively and moved often, but they landed in New Cumberland for the latter part of their lives; they were longtime and faithful members of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland.

Maryjane is survived by her son, Earl "Hank" Guise, II of Lemoyne; a sister-in-law, Jane Marhefka of Mifflintown; and a niece, Sara Jane Gruner (husband, John) of West Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Earl R. Guise; and her brother, Frank L. Marhefka, Jr.

A viewing will take place from 5-7PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A funeral service will be held at 10AM the following morning, October 9, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Biglerville Cemetery, Biglerville.
