Velma M. Coffman

Velma M. (Gill) Coffman, 91 of Lewisberry, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp.
She was a retired loan clerk from New Cumberland Federal Credit Union. She was the head cook at Red Land Senior High School for several years. She was a member of Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church where she was active in the women’s group and Easter egg making. She was also a member of Family Auxiliary of the United Methodist Home for Children, Mechanicsburg and NARFE. She received the Red Land Area Woman’s Club “Woman of the Year” award in 2014. She was well known for her homemade pies, pastries, and other numerous deserts.
She was born October 19, 1925 in Baltimore, MD to the late Noah Walter and Ethel Norine (Yingling) Gill. She was the widow of Raymond O. Coffman.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. Marshall R. Coffman (Tita) of Dunkirk, MD and Terry Coffman of Lewisberry; a sister, Mildred E. Sharrett of Shrewsberry; four grandchildren, Felipe G. Coffman, Annette M. Cole, Seth R. Coffman, and Orrie N. Coffman; and six great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 5 to 7pm Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church (www.fcsalem.org) , Etters with Rev. Ronald Allen officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, North Londonderry Twp.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Building Fund of her church, 402 Valley Road, Etters, PA 17319 or the United Methodist Home for Children, 5120 Simpson Ferry Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
