William "Bill" Reichard

May 15, 1934 — October 6, 2018

William “Bill” John Reichard, 84, of Camp Hill, and formerly of both Buffalo and Binghamton, NY, died Saturday, October 6, 2018, at home.

Bill was born in Buffalo, NY, on May 15, 1934. Upon high school graduation from Senaca Vocational, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. He then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Empire State College while working full-time at Bethlehem Steel. Work led Bill and his family to relocate to Binghamton, NY, where he began a career with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA); he retired from there in 1998. He was an entrepreneur throughout his life; he started and owned various small businesses, including a beauty salon. He was a direct distributor for Amway Distribution, an author, and a certified magician. Of course, as a New York native, Bill was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. He was also a craftsman, creating custom pieces of stained glass and designing doll houses. He enjoyed bowling in his younger days, and always took advantage of any chance he had to coach his kids’ softball and baseball teams. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. There wasn’t much that Bill didn’t do.

In more recent years, Bill cherished the time he was able to spend with his grand and great-grandchildren; following their sports and development provided him great happiness and pride. He and his wife, Lucille, had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. He was first and foremost a family man, and despite his many successes, lived by the principle that a man’s worth is not determined by his money or wealth, but by the family that surrounds him.

Bill leaves behind his wife, Lucille (Saunders) Reichard; two sons, William John, Jr. (Susan McMearty) of Vineland, NJ, and Joseph Michael (Laura) of Kendall Park, NJ; three daughters, Mary Lucille Sonner (Andrew) of New York City, NY, Susan Marie Jackson of Midland, MI, and Sally Louise Pinzon of North Chili, NY; nine grandchildren, Laura, Stephen, Kelly, Patrick “Happy,” William, Benjamin, Allison, Connor and Landon; and four great-grandchildren, Richard, Autumn, Samuel and Isabella. Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel “DJ.”

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
