Barbara A. Kiehl

February 19, 1934 — October 3, 2021

Barbara A. (Cavanaugh) Kiehl, 87, of Lemoyne, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by her husband and 3 sons.

She was a life-long homemaker for her family. Her homemaking skills helped many others after leaving the work force, which included Penn National Insurance in Harrisburg and Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill.

Barb was born in Harrisburg, attended John Harris High School and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mildred (Clark) Cavanaugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Smith.

Barb was a loving and devoted wife and mother of three boys. She was an equally loving and devoted Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her love of the Lord was evident in the life she led and the way she loved her family and others. She was incredibly kind and generous, humble, and tolerant, and above all, her compassion for others was unrivaled.

Barb enjoyed roller skating well into her sixties and truly loved her Olympic crew. Barb was the biggest cheerleader for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members. She enjoyed watching them play sports, acting in plays and singing in concerts.

She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Irvin E. Kiehl; sons, Scott L. Sundy of New Cumberland, Bradley A. Kiehl and wife Alisa of New Cumberland and Robert M. Kiehl and wife Amylynn of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Michelle, Alexis, Brady, Connor, and Gavin; and two great granddaughters, Presley and Sydney, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Barb was also survived by her sister Donna Fasnacht of Grantville and brother-in-law Robert Kiehl and wife Nancy of Gettysburg.

Barb also had many lifelong friends that will miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Trinity United Methodist Church, 415 Bridge St. New Cumberland with Pastor Arun Andrews and Pastor Carl Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to the service.

Barb, Meemaw or Aunt B as many would call her was the catalyst of our family. Her legacy will live on through so many friends and family whom she has touched with her quiet strength, her motivation, and her faith in Jesus. We will miss her every day but we know she is watching over us and sending rainbows after the storm.
