Carol (Riese) Anstine

January 28, 1938 — November 5, 2022

Carol (Riese) Anstine, 84, of Camp Hill, passed away at her residence on Saturday, November 5, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Rudy and Ruth (Nell) Riese, born on January 28, 1938 in York.

She was a 1955 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, York, and she would spend her working career with the PA Department of Revenue, retiring as a clerk in the Corporate Tax Division. She and her husband were longtime members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, and she was supportive of local shelters and pet adoption agencies throughout her life. Though she loved all animals, the four Westies she and Roland raised remained near and dear to her heart.

Carol had a creative eye and expressed her artistic abilities in many ways; she painted with watercolor as a young lady, took pride in decorating her home, and she was a gifted photographer. Carol also kept an immaculate garden and flower beds around her property. She and Roland enjoyed trips to Las Vegas in their prime, but more recently, Hollywood Casino became a more practical outlet for hitting the slots. Carol was a phenomenal cook and spoiled her husband with terrific meals daily. She wasn’t one to sit still for long, but if she could get away, Cape May, NJ, was her favorite destination.

Surviving Carol is her husband of 60 years, Roland C. Anstine; a daughter, Lynne Rietheimer (husband, John) of Mechanicsburg; and two step-daughters, Deborah Anstine of Reading and Cheryl Criswell of York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Craig Stambaugh and David Anstine; and a brother, Ronald Riese.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Carol’s name to the Humane Society – Harrisburg Area, or to any other supportive cause or organization for animals.
