Christopher Wiliam Glidewell

April 25, 1980 — January 26, 2021

Christopher William Glidewell, 40, of Martinsburg, WV, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home.

As a child, Christopher was fun-loving and mischievous, growing into a loving, athletic youth who enjoyed reading, playing basketball and baseball, and hanging out with his friends. He graduated from Hedgesville High School, WV, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Regardless of the damage done by lifelong addiction, Chris had an enormous heart, was very protective of his friends and loved ones. He would give anyone the shirt off his back or last dollar. He had two Chihuahuas that he adored and he loved to color, draw and paint.

He was born April 25, 1980 in Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John H. Curtis and James N. Glidewell, father James William Glidewell and son, Micah Anthony Glidewell.

He is survived by his mother Sherilyn Brandwood (Ashley) of Camp Hill; brother, Curtis Glidewell (Pastor Virginia Cover) of Mechanicsburg; aunts and uncles, Laurie Moody of Pittsburgh, Jay Curtis (Kimberly) of Midland, TX, Jimmy Curtis (Janet) of Holton, KS, Rand Glidewell (Catherine) of Lawrence, KS; grandmothers, Oleta Curtis of Holton, KS and Betty Glidewell of St. Joseph, MO; nephew, Miles Glidewell; niece, Madeleine Glidewell; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Christopher’s Life will be held at 11am Friday February 19th at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. Committal service will follow at 1pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “To Write Love on Her Arms”, www.twloha.com.

Goodbye to the old me, the one full of sadness, pain and misery.
It’s been so long since I have felt the love, the peace, the hope
It’s not your fault, the addiction had a hold on me.
My heart wanted to be with you, in the real world, but the demon’s pull was too strong
I couldn’t break free of the chains that bound me
Hello to the new me, whole, healthy, free
At peace for the first time in so many years
My demons are silent, they can’t touch me now.
I’m so sorry to have left you, and know that your hearts are heavy
Please know that I am happy, with my dad and Micah, free at last
We are waiting for you to join us, to be together for eternity.
I love you.
