December 1, 1941 — February 22, 2022

Clifford J. Smith, 80, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at home, with family by his side. He was the son of the late James R. and Irene E. (Kline) Smith, born on December 1, 1941 in Newport, PA.

Clif was a graduate of Newport High School, and he would go on to work and then retire from PP&L, Harrisburg, after a career spent as an electrical mechanic. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife, Marge; around the house, he would pass the time gardening or woodworking. Clif was an avid hunter, leading him just recently to visit family in Alaska, where he was able to fulfill a longtime dream of shooting a black bear. He was a faithful and active member of Camp Hill Church of God, and he especially enjoyed the friendship and time shared with the men’s breakfast group. He loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with them.

Surviving Clif are his step-daughters, Diane Strohecker of Mechanicsburg, Donna Lynn Baer of Etters and Margaret Still (Richard) of Carlisle; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Deldia Graybill of Port Royal; three nephews, Stephen, Kevin and Keith Graybill; and a niece, Tanya Alexander. He is also survived by his friend and companion, Shirley Kimmel of Shiremanstown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Margaret (Heller) Smith; and two sons and a daughter, Clifford J. Smith, Jr., John T. Ward and Loyette E. Derrickson.

A public funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Camp Hill Church of God, with a one-hour viewing taking place from 10AM until services begin in the church. Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
