David Clemmer

David Clemmer went to be home with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2017.

Born in 1931 to Leon and Mary Colton Steele Clemmer, he was raised in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia but lived the majority of his life in Camp Hill and Carlisle.

Dave graduated from William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia and Trinity College in Hartford. He is a veteran serving in the United States Air Force. Dave was a member of the Summit Presbyterian Church in Mt. Airy, Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill, and Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, PA in his later years. Dave embraced life, faith and family. He loved to travel and be among friends with his Emmers. In his final days he enjoyed “razzing” friends that became family at the Thornwald Home. An avid golfer and longtime member of the Carlisle County Club, Pop’s love for his family is endless. His true legacy was his ever present warmth while living for and loving others. He spent many a day coaching Little League and served as a Cub Scout Pack Leader for many years. He was a member of the Cedar Cliff Boosters, serving well after his kids graduated, as well as supporting and serving on countless committees and boards. He never missed anything involving his children or grandchildren.

Dave was married for 57-years to Emily Ann (Tarr) Clemmer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter. Leanne and her husband Scott Schmidenberg and by his sons David Clemmer, Jr. and his wife Cristy; Craig Clemmer and Amy, and Doug Clemmer and his wife Kelly. His greatest joy is his grandchildren, David and Sean, Madison and her husband Jamithon, David III and his wife Brooke, Maisie and her husband Sandro, Taylor, Dakota and Morgan, Ethan, Erin, Ella and Elise and his great grandchildren, Elliot, Amelia, Gideon, and Lydia, Jaycee and Paisleigh, and Adelaide. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Ellen Markloff and brothers Leon and Joseph.

A family memorial service was held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, PA, and a celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
