Denise Newcomer Grover

Denise Newcomer Grover, 65, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was a retired accounting clerk with Rite Aid Corporation, Etters offices and was formerly co-owner with her husband Bob of Grover’s Riverview Amoco, Harrisburg. She was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters in English Education. She was also a member of the Capital Area Writing Project at Penn State Harrisburg.

Denise was a life-long supporter of children and schools. Some of her many activities with the West Shore School District included being a Room Mother, a member of the District SPEAK Committee, and serving twelve years on the District Board of School Directors. She was also a long time member of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill. In her free time, she loved doing all things that engaged her mind, including reading and crossword and sudoku puzzles. She also loved baking for family and friends, no matter the occasion.

Denise was born in Harrisburg to the late G. Robert and Wahneta (Brown) Newcomer.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 44 years, Robert Grover; her children, Mollie Grover and husband Jeff Strahota of Rockville, MD and Wes Grover and wife Melissa of New Cumberland; sister Deborah Mundis of Lewisberry; step sister Kristin Jensen of New Cumberland; and her great aunt Kathryn Brown of Linglestown.

In light of the current pandemic, a memorial service and celebration of Denise’s life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are respectfully requested to her church, Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road Camp Hill, PA 17011.
