Doris J. Sheaffer

Doris J. Sheaffer, 80, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a retired cook for the New Cumberland Army Depot (DDRE), Fairview Twp. She attended Camp Hill Church of God; loved Country Music, her annual birthday trips to Tennessee, and feeding wildlife in her backyard. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and always put “family first”.
Doris was born in Middletown to the late Leonard E. and Anna M. (Forney) Crater. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lemar O. Sheaffer, Sr., brother James Crater, and sister Martha Keiffer.
She is survived by her children, Jean Louise Cummings of Middletown, Edward L. Crater of Harrisburg and Lemar O. Sheaffer of New Cumberland; eight brothers and sisters, Lenora Garcia of Middletown, Janet Dundore of Hummelstown, Leonard Crater, Jr. of Ocean View, DE, William Crater of Seaford, DE, Robert Crater of Middletown, Kenneth Crater of Ocean View, DE, Carol Hall of Halifax and Rose Alexander of Forest Grove, OR; three grandchildren, Cherie M. Inglis, Renee M. Flory, and Daniel E.W. Crater; and four great grandchildren, Cole, Connor, Ian and Caleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 7, 2013 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Robert W. Mallick, Jr. her pastor officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
