Dorothy I. (Honnafous) Zeigler

Dorothy Irene (Honnafous) Zeigler, 99, formerly of Mechanicsburg, Fort Myers, FL, and Country Meadows, Hershey, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 in the Gardens of Campbelltown following a brief illness.

She was born on August 13, 1917 to the late Gilbert and Irene (Booth) Honnafous. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Russell Zeigler, Sr. who passed away January 1995.

Surviving are her son Robert Russell Zeigler Jr. and daughter in-law Elaine; her granddaughters, Tanya M. Zeigler, Laura L. Lex and husband Matthew, and Autumn N. Lex; step-grandchildren Tracy Kaplin, Andrea Kaplin, Scott Kaplin and wife Robin, and Stephanie Brantlinger and husband Lance; and her step-great grandchildren, Alexia and Megan Kaplin, and Jillian and Joshua Brantlinger.

Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shiremanstown, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and the Zembo Widows Club.

She was a lifelong resident of the Harrisburg area and a loving Mother and Grandmother. She loved to create crafts, knit, draw, and paint in oil and water colors. She won several awards for her paintings at Country Meadows.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to The ARC of Cumberland & Perry Counties (CPARC), 71 Ashland Ave., Carlisle PA 17013.
