Douglas L. DeFord, 58 of New Cumberland died Monday, July 5, 2021 at his home.

He was born September 7, 1962 in Ellettsville, IN. He was preceded in death by his father Fred DeFord.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen DeFord; mother, Phyllis (Justis) DeFord of Ellettsville, IN; daughters, Danielle Brinson (Cyrus Cunningham) of Ellettsville, IN, Amanda Deibler (Brian) of Mount Holly Springs, Katelyn Dodge of Etters, and Carissa Dodge (Scott Gobrecht) of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Landon, Colten, Leona, Garrett, Everett and Carley; brothers, Kent Deford (Glenda) of Bedford, IN and David DeFord (Kathy) of Omaha, NE; sister, Kimberly Baird (Doug) of Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces and nephews.

Most recently he was a Delivery Specialists for Camping World of Harrisburg, PA. During his vast career, Doug led many sales teams and manufacturing organizations. He took great pride in leading several progressive projects while president of the town board of Ellettsville, IN. He was a good all-around athlete playing basketball, football and baseball for Edgewood High School. As an avid sports fan he especially enjoyed Indiana University Basketball and the Chicago Cubs. Doug always had a joy for life, a great story, a joke, a smile and giggle that was contagious. He enjoyed American history (Gettysburg) was a loyal patriot and a compassionate defender of the 2nd amendment of the Constitution. He loved his Jeep and to BBQ for friends and family. But his greatest love and loyalty was to be called son, brother, uncle, friend, dad, Papaw and to be Kathie’s guy and husband. He was everybody’s guy and will be missed by all the lives that he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family at a time and date to be announced.
