Edward Berch

Edward Berch, 92, of Lewisberry, died on August 16, 2018, at The Gardens at Gettysburg, Adams County. Son of the late Josephine Rose (Ratkiwicz) Berch, he was born on February 18, 1926, in Homestead, PA.

Edward retired as Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army, and worked for the military throughout his life. After serving his time in active duty, he went on to become Quality Assurance Auditor for the former New Cumberland Army Depot, New Cumberland, PA. He was past Commander and former chaplain of V.F.W. Post 7415, and also a past chaplain of American Legion Post 143, both of New Cumberland, PA. Edward was formerly Chef de Gare of Voiture 22, Northern York County of 40/8, and past State Director of the Karville Star of the 40/8. He was also a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisberry, PA.

Surviving are his wife, Anneliese (Popp) Berch; his two brothers, William Birch, of Lewisberry, PA and Thomas Berch, of West Newton, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 11AM on September 7, 2018, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, PA. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at 1PM on the same day.
