Edward P. Segeleon, 94, formerly of Leetsdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA.
Born March 18, 1918 in Greensburg, PA, a son of the late Mike and Mary (Straslicka) Segeleon, he retired as a machinist from the U.S. Steel American Bridge Plant in Ambridge and was a founding member of the Leetsdale VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Anne (Zilka) Segeleon, two sisters, Florence Vilk and Philomena Segeleon, and four brothers, Louis, Andrew, Frank, and William Segeleon.
He is survived by a son, Edward M. (Elaine) of Bentonville, AR; two daughters, Marianne J. Leach (Kim C.) of Harrisburg, with whom he resided, and Donna J. Matthews of Annandale, VA. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Michelle Myers (Troy) of Indianapolis, IN, Lora Whitacre of Rogers, AR, Brian Edward Leach of Sewickley, and Diana Leach of Indiana, PA, and five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Katherine, and Samantha Whitacre and Alayna and McKenna Myers. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent (Eleanor) Segeleon, of Sewickley and his sister, Ruth Zagorski, of Leetsdale, and a sister-in-law, Helen Zilka, of Aliquippa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 31st, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Parish, celebrated by the Rev. Joseph A. Carr. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, Moon Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leetsdale VFW or to a charity of choice.
