Ellen Marion Betcke

Ellen Marion Betcke, 79, of Newberry Twp., Etters, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, in Fairview Twp. from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She retired as a Proofreader from Atlas Graphics. A 44 year member of Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, and a member of the Red Land Senior Center. Born on February 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Marion (Saladin) Fitzpatrick. Ellen was a graduate (with Honors) of the New York State College for Teachers, Albany NY (SUNY Albany) with a degree in English. Raised on the outskirts of the Adirondack mountains she felt most at home in or around the various southern Adirondack lakes. A passion she passed on to her children. Ellen enjoyed a good game of bridge or just sitting and reading a good book. Her greatest joys were her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Joseph P. Betcke; a son, David R. Betcke of Etters; three daughters, Kim E. Betcke of Etters, Ann M. Jadro (Alan E.) of Madison, NJ, and Susan L. Betcke of Harrisburg; a sister, Gail Brozek (Carl) of Webster, NY; a grandson, Matthew A. Jadro of Elizabethtown.
Memorial services will be held at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church on Wednesday July 6th at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 402 Valley Road, Etters, with the Rev. Dr. Deborah J. Heisley-Cato officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church immediately following the service.
