Endre "Andy" Kiss

November 6, 1937 — January 2, 2022

Endre “Andy” Kiss, 84, of Camp Hill, passed away at home on Sunday, January 2, 2022, with his wife by his side. He was the son of the late János and Mária (Kulcsár) Kiss, born on November 6, 1937 in Pölöske, Hungary.

Faced with adversity at a young age, Andy was driven to forge his own path, working hard in every facet of life. At age 19, he fled his native country of Hungary during the Revolution of 1956, eventually making his way to the United States. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted, serving in the U.S. Army for two years (which ironically landed him back in Europe); he would later enlist in the Reserves. Never questioning the hand he was dealt, he used past trials and challenges as motivation. Starting with only the clothes on his back and the change in his pockets, Andy would pick up the English language, earn a high school diploma, and become a certified electrician and licensed pilot. He spent his career as an electrician assigned to commercial projects through IBEW Local 143, Harrisburg, working with G R Sponaugle & Sons in the years leading up to retirement. His curiosity led him to tinkering with anything electrical, and he prided himself in tackling big projects at home. Above all else, he cared about providing for his family, and being with those he loved. He married the love of his life, Bonnie, in 1991, and he would officially retire in the late 1990s. Andy was the best host and pilot for his wife and family, captaining trips from Capital City Airport, New Cumberland, to places like Atlantic City, NJ, Williamsburg, VA, and Canada. Although he found peace and happiness on the golf course later in life, nothing made him light up quite like his beautiful granddaughters.

Surviving Andy is his wife of 31 years, Bonnie L. (Geiling) Kiss; his son, John A. Kiss (Mary) of Gulf Shores, AL; step-sons, Ian A. Cameron (Jennifer) of Camp Hill, and Geoffrey D. Cameron of New Cumberland; granddaughters, Naomi and Vivian; and a nephew who remains in Pölöske. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

A public memorial service will be held at 2PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the mausoleum in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Andy’s name to either: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
