Evelyn Vida (Manning) Withington

Evelyn Vida Manning Withington, 85, died peacefully on August 24, 2013 in Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born March 30, 1928 in Halifax, Pennsylvania. Evelyn grew up in the Red Hill area north of Dauphin, PA and resided there until her marriage.
Evelyn was a proud graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1949. She was retired from a 20 year career in nursing, primarily in Lakewood, Colorado. At the time of her retirement, she was the Director of Nursing at Cambridge Long Term Care Home in Lakewood.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald ”Don” Neil Withington, whom she met while taking care of Don’s mother at Harrisburg Hospital. Don’s position with the U.S. Geologic Survey required a move to Lakewood in 1962, where she resided until the time of her passing.
Evelyn took great pride in her family. She is survived by her two sons; Jeffrey L. Withington and his wife Patti, Lakewood, Co, and M. Scott Withington and his wife Cheryl, Warner Robins, GA, as well as 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Manning, Lemoyne, PA.
Evelyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lakewood, Colorado. She believed in God and Santa Claus. She enjoyed traveling, singing, yodeling, Disney World, Christmas and family gatherings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with Pastor Jon Uhlinger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at 12:30pm Friday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp., PA.
