Gail L. (Helmick) Sweeten, 62, of New Cumberland, Fairview Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Harrisburg Hospital.
She and her husband Gerald K. “Jerry” Sweeten have owned and operated Sweet ‘N Gro Lawn Care, New Cumberland, for the past twenty-seven years. Gail was a 1970 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and a graphics institute in Baltimore, MD. She was a member of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill.
Gail was born in Harrisburg to the late Ernest D. (M.D.) and Phyllis G. (Daugherty) Helmick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a wonderful son, Christian E. Sweeten in 2001. She was a loving wife, a caring, devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She believed in Jesus as her personal Savior and was a fervent prayer warrior. Gail loved reading and studying the Bible and related literature and was known as an avid book reader.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 2 children: Faith A. DeRose of Collegeville, PA, married to Angelo DeRose III, and LTJG Jeremy E. Sweeten, US Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA, and married to Christine M Sweeten. Gail’s siblings: Amy Ensminger of New Cumberland, Ernest Helmick of York Haven and Ann Lefevre of Mechanicsburg. The five grandchildren: Lauren and Logan DeRose and Carter, Jaxson and Cooper Sweeten. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and four great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24th at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011. Viewing will be between 9:30 – 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will be at Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp. immediately following the service.
The family and other believers have the comfort of knowing that Gail has now been re-united with Christian and her Lord Jesus for eternity in heaven.
