George H. Mikos

March 21, 1931 — November 30, 2022

Our beloved Dad, Grandfather (PaPa) and Great Grandfather, George H. Mikos, 91, of Lewisberry died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his home.

He retired from a 37-year career with the Federal Government where he travelled the world to provide his specialized calibration expertise for Army equipment/systems. A 1950 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School, George was an all-state football kicker. He founded the Red Land Midget Football Program and facilitated the development of the Red Land Midget Football field. He was a member and served as President of the Fishing Creek Community Association for over fifty years and was an avid supporter of all Red Land Sports Programs. He derived the most joy in being a loving, caring, and steadfast supporter to all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

George was born March 21, 1931, in Harrisburg, PA. He was the devoted son to the late Frank Louis and Mary A. (Pichora) Mikos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Marian Weller, Dorothy Mikos, Catherine Lampman, and Barbara Mikos.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Mikos (Lynda) of Mount Crested Butte, CO, Marilyn Dolgoff (Steve) of Ellicott City, MD, Kathy Aviles (Rudy) of Harrisburg, Jenny McFarlane (Brian) of Ellicott City, MD, Julie Severino (Tim) of Mechanicsburg, and Danny Mikos (Jeannette) of Gardiner, MT; siblings, Caroline (Elwood) Barr, Annie Anderson, Vada (Rodney Wangeman) Mikos, Nancy Mikos, and Josephine (Victor) Mazziotti; grandchildren, Matt, Tony, Andy, Nikki, Brandon, Mark, Victoria, Ashley, Michael, Katie, Alexandra, Angela M., Jeremy, and Angela S.; and twelve great-grandchildren.

George was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He was loving, funny, kind, and always willing to help those in need. He truly had a heart of gold. God blessed us with a very special Dad.

We love you so much Dad (PaPa)!
