George J. Sproull

March 17, 1952 — March 20, 2022

George J. Sproull, beloved husband, father, and umpa, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2022, just three days after his 70th birthday. Up until his final hour, George was happy, strong, and as wise as they come.

George’s compassion and generosity for his family and friends were not just rare, they were unique. His selflessness and eagerness to help those around him defined his character. His warm and calming demeanor and his gentle soul were felt by everyone who met him.

George grew up in Grove City, Pennsylvania and earned a B.S. in Mathematics at Grove City College. He was an extremely talented drummer, performing in many bands, and even jammed the day he left us. It was at one of his early shows that he met the love and light of his life, Marianne, whom he married when he was 24. They lived a wonderful life together in Camp Hill for 45 years. A natural problem solver, George retired from the U.S. Department of Defense, Mechanicsburg, after 30+ years as an IT Specialist and Senior Systems Administrator. He then freelanced as an independent consultant for several years. He retired to enjoy time with his family in 2019. Aside from drumming, George was an avid golfer and a diehard Steelers fan, passions he instilled and shared with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Marianne (Bussoletti) Sproull; children, Greg Sproull (Justyna) and Lauren Royer (Jared); and grandchildren, Dash and Isla, whom he cared for and connected with deeply. He also leaves behind a brother, Bill Sproull (Monica); several sisters and brothers-in-law, and even more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirl and Dorothy (Kennedy) Sproull.

A funeral service to honor George’s beautiful life and legacy will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 28th, 2022 at Camp Hill United Methodist Church. A visitation will take place from 1 PM until services begin in the church. The family will hold a private burial in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.

George was the epitome of a role model and a legend to those who knew him well – truly one of the best men you could ever meet. We will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in George’s name to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
