George L. Kohler, 89, of New Cumberland, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 in his residence.
He was the retired owner – operator of his own electrical contracting company, Kohler Signal Company and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lemoyne and various hunting camps. He was a former projectionist at the former Lemoyne Theater, enjoyed piloting planes and was a retired member of the West Shore Gun Club. George was an avid bird watcher, hunter, arborist and outdoorsman. He was a Civil War buff who loved to read books and watch the History Channel. He enjoyed metal detecting excursions with his brother Pete. And as a young Boy Scout he rescued a woman from her burning home in Lemoyne.
George was born in Lemoyne to the late Guy and Edith (Eppley) Kohler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Walter Kohler and sister Shirley Squire.
He is survived by his brother Charles W. “Pete” Kohler and his wife Clara of New Cumberland; brother in law Oscar Squire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. David Schreffler, his pastor officiating. Viewing will be from 9:30 am until service time Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
