George S. Cobb

March 25, 1944 — June 20, 2017

George S. Cobb, 73, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, after a brief illness.

He retired as a teacher at Harrisburg High School in the Harrisburg School District, and was currently an employee of the Harrisburg Auto Auction. He was a 1962 graduate of Camp Hill High School and a 1966 graduate of Penn State University where he was a member of the university’s Delta Phi Fraternity. He served as a board member for 30 years on West Shore Recreation Commission; a P.I.A.A. Track Official for 35 years; a Certified Gettysburg Tour Guide; an Elder and member of Christ Presbyterian; a 32nd Degree Mason at Lowther Manor Lodge and a member of the Mechanicsburg Club. Born in Warren, PA on March 25, 1944, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Harriet B. (Shuster) Cobb.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Joy Hazen Cobb; a daughter and her husband, Allison C. and Andrew C. Bolyard of Glen Allen, VA; two grandsons, Anderson and Alexander; and a sister, Edi Young and husband, Dave Lounsbury, of Lancaster.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, from 10 – 11 AM, with a memorial service immediately following at 11 AM at Christ Presbyterian Church, 421 Deerfield Road, Camp Hill, with the Rev. Ellen Crawford True officiating.
