George W. Baker

George W. Baker, 82, of Lower Allen Twp., Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He retired as a Technician for the former Bell of PA, Harrisburg, and he was also the former owner of Baker's Custom (woodworking and dollhouse) Shop, Shiremanstown. George was an Army Veteran; a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Shiremanstown; V.F.W. Post 7530, Lower Allen Twp.; Bell Telephone Pioneers. Born on September 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Wayne E. and Evelyn R. (Wright) Baker and was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Baker.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Virginia Shutt Baker; two sons, George W., Jr. of York, David B. and his wife, Barbara, of Mechanicsburg; three brothers, Wayne of Mechanicsburg, Leon of Mechanicsburg, Donald of Lewisberry; a sister, Carolyn Steiner of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Erin Baker Gohn, Melissa Baker Bock, Alexandra Baker, and Andrew Baker; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Olivia Gohn.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Monday at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, with the Reverends Michael L. Seifried and Sarah M. Keilholtz officiating. Visitation will follow the services in the church.
