Gloria (Gianelli) Torchia

Gloria (Giannelli) Torchia, 93, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Lewisberry, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the Bridges of Bent Creek, Silver Spring Township. Daughter of the late Joseph and Madeline (Sebastian) Giannelli, she was born on September 1, 1926 in Harrisburg.

Gloria worked for the West Shore School District, in various positions, retiring after many years of service. She especially enjoyed her time as the coordinator of the school nurses within the district. After retirement she enjoyed her time as a homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an amazing cook, hosting family dinners every Sunday. Crocheting, knitting, bowling and gardening were hobbies she greatly enjoyed. Gloria loved vacationing at the beach, which created fabulous memories for all. In the end, Gloria was ready to go home to be with her Lord and to reunite with her late husband, Phil.

Surviving Gloria are her sons and their spouses, Thomas A. Torchia (Winnie) of New Cumberland, and Joseph A. Torchia (Lisa) of Harrisburg; grandchildren, LeAnne Nicole Torchia, Rayna Maria Pfeil (Keith), Antonio Felice Torchia, Susan M. Yohn (Justin) and Julie E. Brooks (Nick); great grandchildren, Alina Torchia, Layla Pfeil, Natalia Pfeil, Aaliyah Pfeil, Dylan Yohn, Lily Yohn and Ivy Brooks; a sister, Regina Hoffman of York; and a sister-in-law, Judy Giannelli of Chicago. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Felice 'Phil" Torchia; and four siblings, Mary, Don, John, and Albert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Immediately following Mass, a committal service will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
