Grant Wesley "Wes" Kister, 89, of Enola, died Saturday, April 30, 2022 surrounded by his family. Son of the late James Lawrence and Carrie Florence (Beard) Kister, he was born on March 25, 1933 in Goldsboro.
Grant was a graduate of New Cumberland High School ('51) and went on to serve for over 35 years in the US Navy, was a Korean War time veteran, and continued in the Naval Reserves where he attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.
He was employed at former McGinnis' TV & Repair and the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg as an electronic equipment specialist.
Wes was active in the community; he had once served as the president of the Seidle Park Recreation Center, was a current member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, was a former member of the Marysville Lions Club, and Marysville Borough Planning Commission.
His passions included genealogy, word puzzles, computers, and ham radio. He also loved dinner dates with his wife at the Dutch Apple Theater, Lancaster.
Grant is survived by his children, Scott D. Kister (wife, Tracey) of Enola and Starr L. Driver (husband, Robert E.) of Camp Hill; five grandchildren, Brandon W. and Kenneth M. Kister, Robert S. Gehrke, Jr. and Jason and Justin Driver; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Chase and Andrew. He was preceded in death by five siblings and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp., with the Reverends Arun Andrews and Carl Ford Peterson officiating.
