Helen C. (Hollinger) Bennett

Helen C. (Hollinger) Bennett, 89, of New Cumberland, died June 8, 2019, at home, surrounded by family. Daughter of the late Adam A. and Caroline E. (Bleistein) Hollinger, she was born on August 8, 1929, in Harrisburg.

She was a 1948 graduate of Catholic High, Harrisburg. In 1950, she received a degree in Fine Arts from Mount Aloysius College, Cresson. Upon graduation, she worked as a decorator at Bowman’s Department Store, Harrisburg. She was a 25+ year volunteer at St. Theresa School library; she also taught 6-8th grade art, and was a member of the Parish CCW. Helen was a lifelong artist, a member of the PA Watercolor Society, and studied with Nick Ruggieri. She was a past member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time in Ocean City, MD with family and friends. She is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, Fred, who died in 2002.

Helen is survived by her children, Carol A. Springer (Brock) of New Cumberland, Barbara J. Brody (Robert) of Mechanicsburg, and Maureen E. Claypool (Barry) of Sayre, Michael G. Bennett (Lynnmarie) of New Cumberland, Frederick J. Bennett (Caroline) of Safety Harbor, FL, Terrence J. Bennett of New Cumberland, and William A. Bennett (Chrissy) of New Cumberland; siblings, Marian B. Keane (Mike) of New Cumberland and Carl A. Hollinger (Kathy) of Lititz; seventeen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren (and three on the way). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Bennett; brothers and sisters, Anna C., Mary B., Elizabeth M., Edward J., Joseph B. and Robert A.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial will immediately follow mass in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. A public viewing will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 6-8PM, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
