Hugh A. Nickerson

March 21, 1940 — July 7, 2016

Hugh A. Nickerson, 76, of Etters, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.

Hugh (Whitey, Nick) had a life well lived. He enjoyed Nascar, Burger King and Chinese Food. He and his wife were the retired co-owners of H & A Vending, Hazleton and for thirty eight years he was affiliated with the PA Blind Concessionaires. He enjoyed rebuilding and collecting classic cars and scuba diving, but more than anything, loved spending time with his family who meant everything to him, always and forever.

Hugh was born in Akron, OH to the late William D. and Mary Anna (Whitecotton) Nickerson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by furred family Clipper, Boomer, Shelly, Thumper, and PeeWee. Brother William D. Nickerson, II also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife (and best friend) of more than 44 years Amy D. (Kreamer) Nickerson; three devoted daughters: Karen M. Nickerson and husband Steve Fleagle of Etters, Diane M. Nickerson and husband Jim Tokarz of Etters and Ericka L. Swinehart and husband Rick of Harrisburg; two sisters, June Simmons of Big Rock, TN and Mary Luth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and five grandchildren, Katie, Stephanie, Meghan, Hannah and Dominic, adopted grandchildren: Jenn, Jess, Becka, Victoria, Vanessa, and Nicholas and great grandchildren Nicholas, Owen, and Morgan. Also surviving are a legion of wonderful nieces and nephews!

In accordance with Hugh’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are respectfully requested in Hugh’s name to the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17111.
