Jack Allen Lenker, Sr.

July 29, 1941 — December 31, 2019

Jack Allen Lenker, Sr., 78, formerly of New Cumberland and Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in UPMC Carlisle, Carlisle, PA.

He was the retired owner/operator of Jack A. Lenker, Inc., a trucking company that handled bulk newspaper delivery for the Patriot News and prior to that was employed by Irwin’s Dairy.

He was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisberry where he served on the church council, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on several other committees. He volunteered for many years with the Central PA Food Bank and was an avid outdoorsman who loved farming, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time at his “property” on Moore’s Mountain Road. Jack was the beloved “Pappaw” to his grandchildren and loved spending time with them and his family.

Jack was born in Mechanicsburg to the late David and Ruth (Trimmer) Lenker, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was the widower of Alma (Holland) Lenker to whom he was married for 58 years. He was preceded in death by a sister Jane Lechthaler.

He is survived by his children, Jack A. Lenker, Jr. and wife Linda of Blaine, Lisa Dishong and husband Rick of Harrisburg, Wendy Lenker-Badorf and husband Dean of Camp Hill and Christopher P. Lenker and wife Kim of Mechanicsburg; sister Dainies Lenker of Fairfax, VA; brother David K. Lenker, Jr. of Moorehead City, NC; 15 grandchildren, Bethany, Kristen, Jessica, Joshua, Howard, Richard, Cody, B.J., Stanley, Tyler, Lauren, Lance, Logan, Jason and Allison; and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 863 Lewisberry Rd. Lewisberry, PA 17339. Please join the family for a visitation and light refreshments in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
