James P. "Jason" Coogan

January 13, 1937 — June 16, 2013

James P. “Jason” Coogan, 76, of New Cumberland, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He retired as a foreman and crane operator for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation; a devout Catholic and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; lover of his family and friends, the Atlantic Ocean, North Wildwood, NJ, fishing, and all things Philadelphia. Born on January 13, 1937, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James J. Coogan and Kathleen (Theriault) Coogan. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael P. Coogan (Joanne P.).

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Selina A. (D’Agostino) Coogan; a son, Michael P. Coogan (Carrie A.) of Fairfax, VA; a daughter, Mary E. Gurcsik (John F.) of Tamaqua; five grandchildren, Eileen M., John F., James M. (Amy Sue), Michael P., and Joseph P.; a great grandchild, Selina D.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland with the Rev. Michael McFadden as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Swatara Twp.

Visitation will be held 9:30 – 10:30 AM Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
