Jared C. Moore

March 11, 1960 — April 23, 2021

Jared C. Moore, 61, of Fairview Twp., formerly of Denison, TX died Friday, April 23, 2021 at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1960 in Waco, TX to the late OJ and Jodi Moore. The baby of his family, Jared was a charismatic hometown hero, “Mr. Wonderful” at his high school and a standout football star. His football accolades earned him a full scholarship to play with the SMU Mustangs, where he became a four- year letterman and starting linebacker during the legendary “Pony Express” era. SMU was also where he met the love of his life, Karen, with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage and two children who he never stopped bragging about. He was a wonderful husband and father who would do anything to support his family, from coaching and attending countless sporting events to spearheading numerous home improvement projects.

A confident doer and a helpful Mr. Fix-It, there was not a single thing that Jared wasn’t willing to try; he had a vast repertoire of building, landscaping and gardening knowledge and skills. If you needed help in any way, Jared was always there to lend a hand. He had an optimistic entrepreneurial spirit, and he was the proud co-owner of the Moore’s Mountain Inn and a co-founding partner of ON-3 Staffing Solutions. He worked hard and played harder, spending time hiking with his beloved dog Mackie, kayaking with friends and family, exploring new places on countless trips and vacations, and regularly enjoying a nice Jim Beam Manhattan or two. Jared always knew the best dive bar or backcountry hangout, and he loved nothing more than trading yarns with strangers. He was certainly born with the gift of gab; he loved meeting new people, hearing stories, and most of all, taking the stage to spin a tale or two of his own. Music and songwriting were Jared’s passions, and he was always serenading loved ones (as well as any crowd of people he could get in front of) with his voice and guitar. His laughter, singing and stomping will be sorely missed.

Jared is survived by his wife, Karen Lewis Moore; daughter, Christiane Lewis Moore of Philadelphia; son, Aubrey Lewis Moore (Whitney Newhouse) of Mechanicsburg; sister, Jana Barber of Dallas, TX; nephews Justin and Jordan Barber of Dallas; mother-in-law Barbara Lewis of Lewisberry; brother-in-law Vance Lewis (Lu Ann Lewis) of Orlando; brother-in-law Clifford Lewis (Catherine Lewis) of Singer Island; and niece Debbie Lewis of Singer Island.

Celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and location to be announced.
