Jean M. Milus

June 6, 1928 — August 28, 2021

Jean M. Milus, 93, formerly of Highland Park, Camp Hill, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in her Upper Allen township residence.

She was the widow of George S. Milus and is survived by her devoted children, Craig and wife Denise (DeFrancesco) Milus and Sandra Milus, both of Mechanicsburg; a sister Dorothy Bricker of Mechanicsburg; nephew Mark Unger and wife Carol of Eugene, OR: niece Susan Unger and partner Carlos of Dallas, TX; and several great nieces and great nephews; and dear friend Kathie Harrison.

She was a former parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.

Jean was born in Shenandoah, PA to the late Charles and Anna Luckzus, residing on Coal Street. She graduated from J. W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah in 1945. Soon after her graduation, she attended beauty school and became a licensed cosmetologist.
After marrying in 1948, Jean and George moved to Harrisburg along with her sister, Florence, and her husband, Len Unger. Jean then established “Jean’s Beauty Shop” on North Third street, not far from Market Square. She retired from her business when her first child was born, to become a full-time wife and mother, although she continued to provide hair styling to her “neighborhood ladies” from her home for many years after.

Jean was devoted to her family and George was the love of her life. From their high school years when they began dating through their 64 years of marriage, their love for each other shined bright. Always at Jean’s core was her love, care and concern for George, her children, and her niece and nephew.

Jean and George loved antiques and spent a good portion of their time collecting “her treasures.” She proudly displayed the collectibles in her home.

In the 1960s, Jean and George bought and refurbished Jean’s long-time housing aspiration, the only house in Highland Park with neo-colonial columns on Chatham Road. They raised their family there, only selling their home after George’s death when it became too large for Jean to manage.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with Father Charles L. Persing officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the memorial service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Jean’s memory to the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
