Jo Anne (Gross) Groft

Jo Anne (Gross) Groft, 78, of Lewisberry, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lester and Gladys (Krone) Gross, born on July 18, 1942 in Harrisburg.

Jo Anne was a member of the first graduating class at Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill. She worked for 60+ years at her family’s business, Gross’s Store in Lewisberry. She was a superb cook with too many specialties to count. Jo Anne was the go-to source for family history, phone numbers and addresses. She loved holiday dinners and picnics, Carnival Cruises, reading books, trips to the beach, pinball machines, and even slot machines. She was a longtime member of Lewisberry United Methodist Church, and the best grandma on the planet, spoiling her grandkids regularly – JUST ASK THEM. She gave her time, her ear, and her love to many throughout the years, and for that she will be greatly missed.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald G. Groft; sons, Patrick E. Groft (Michelle Darr), and Michael E. Groft (Lisa), both of Lewisberry. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Hannah, Emily (decd. 2015), Benjamin, Levi, and Sierra; and five siblings, Barbara Forgas, Lesetta Shoffner, Lester “Herman” Gross Jr, Larry Gross, and Lynn Gross (decd. 2011).
