John Barry Lawler, Jr.

John Barry Lawler, Jr., age 73, of Enola passed away on Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home.

Loving son of the late John Barry Lawler, Sr and Catherine (nee Snowden) Lawler and brother to the late Kathleen Nadler Leitzel.

Barry served 5 years in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell Kentucky and 173rd Airborne in Vietnam serving in Korea as an MP followed by 2 tours in Vietnam. During Vietnam, Barry served as a helicopter mechanic, crew chief and door gunner on a UH-1C helicopter gunship and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Parachute Badge and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Upon discharge from the military, Barry went on to work for Bell Atlantic, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service.

Barry was a loyal member of the Enola American Legion post #751; Enola Sportsman Association; and American Legion post #1001 in Harrisburg. In addition, he was a life member of the American Legion Post #6 and the VFW Post #4961, both of Seaford, DE. He was 19th District Deputy Commander for the PA State American Legion and a member of the American Legion Honor Guard.

Barry is survived by his brother Tom (Kristine) of Algonquin, IL and Michael of Harrisburg, PA.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Committal services with military honors will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
