John "Jack" Ross Redshaw

May 9, 1939 — November 10, 2022

John “Jack” Ross Redshaw, 83, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of Camp Hill, PA, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was born on May 9, 1939, in Avalon, PA. He was the son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Fox) Redshaw. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jayne Branagan and his beloved son, Stephen Ross Redshaw.

Jack graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Jack worked the majority of his career for Dupont and it’s Berg Electronics division. After his retirement from Dupont, he started his own business, American Advertising.

During college, he met the love of his life, Joanne Emery, and they were married in 1962. Jack and Joanne had two sons Matthew and Stephen. Jack was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was lovingly called Pap-Pap by his four grandsons.

His family will always fondly remember him for his kindness, patience, brilliance, and never-ending optimism. He dedicated much of his life to volunteering for his church (Christ Presbyterian Church of Camp Hill) and community. He loved music and traveling to NYC to see the Broadway shows. Jack also had a green thumb and could nurture any plant back to good health and always had the greenest lawn on the block! He had an incredible mind and could figure out how to fix anything and he always loved a good debate about any current event. His grandsons loved Christmas time when Pap-Pap would set up the Lionel electric trains and monorail tracks around the Christmas tree and in the summer traveling to Pittsburgh with the entire family to cheer on the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Joanne A. (Emery) Redshaw; his stepsister, Dorothy McMahon; a son and his wife, Matthew J. Redshaw and Brenda F. Redshaw (Wilkins) of Metuchen, NJ; his daughter-in-law, Julie M. Redshaw (Fetrow), of New Cumberland; four grandsons, David, Tyler (Julia), Timothy (Shannon), and Michael (Emily); his great-granddaughter, Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 am at Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Pittsburgh, PA, at a later date.
