Joshua D. Stover

July 28, 1998 — January 18, 2019

Joshua D. Stover, 20, of Lewisberry, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday, January 18, 2019, in Fairview Township. He was born on July 28, 1998, in Harrisburg.

Josh was a graduate of Red Land High School (Class of ‘17), and was very active in the community throughout his life. He played lacrosse and football at Red Land, and was a member of the JROTC throughout. He began his college experience at Bowling Green University, where he continued with ROTC and became an official member of The National Society of Pershing Rifles Company I-1. Josh was currently attending HACC, with his sights set on enrolling and graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. This move to West Virginia would have also resulted in his enlistment in the Air National Guard, where he’d join his brother, Darrin. His studies, coupled with his nearly completed pilot’s certification, were paving the way for him to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot with the United States Air Force. Although he was not yet military, Josh was already helping veterans in the area by volunteering at both American Legion Post 329 (Elizabethtown) and Post 974 (New Cumberland).

Whether it was going to a concert, fishing or hunting, or rooting on Penn State at Beaver Stadium, he loved the time he was able to share with his dad and brother. Above all else, Josh had a heart bigger than life itself; he loved everyone, and treated individuals with respect and genuine care. He will leave a void in the hearts of many in this area and of those afar.

Surviving are his parents, David H. Stover and Andrea M. Winters, of Lewisberry; his brother, Darrin N. Stover, of Lancaster; his grandmothers, Nancy J. Lehrmann, of Wormleysburg and Jane K. Stover, of Mechanicsburg; and his uncle, Terry E. Lehrmann, Jr., of Wormleysburg. Also surviving is his birthmother, Tara Stover. Josh was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rev. Donald N. Stover and Terry E. Lehrmann.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. A visitation will be held prior to services, from noon until 2PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Joshua’s name can be made to: Teddy’s Toys and Treasures. Josh volunteered with this program each Christmas, which provides presents for children who must spend Christmas at the Children’s Hospital. Checks may be made payable to Penn State University (memo: PSCH-Child Life), and can be mailed to Penn State Health / Development & Alumni Relations, 1249 Cocoa Ave., HS20, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033.
