Joyce E. Shade

Joyce E. Shade, 77, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital.

She was a 1961 graduate of Steelton Highspire High School and an avid animal enthusiast who loved feeding the wildlife at her home and fostering any and all stray cats that wondered by. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her professional path included time with Pomeroys, Harrisburg; Nationwide Insurance, Harrisburg; Kinney Shoes, Shiremanstown; Beman Manufacturing, Lewisberry; Anderson Transportation, Harrisburg; Red Land High School Food Services; and more recently, babysitting for local families and friends. In retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her loving family, lunches out, and shopping with her husband and family.

Joyce was born in Steelton to the late Frederick L. and Geraldine A. (Nicholson) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Jean L. Tresco, a brother Harry Martin and sister Joan Martin.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 59 years, Raymond L. Shade; daughters, Sue Ann Phillips of New Cumberland and Linda Erb and husband David of Etters; and three grandchildren, Cory Erb, Sydney Phillips and Skyler Huggins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Stefanie DiFrancesco officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.
