Joyce (Perkins) Kreider

March 25, 1937 — March 8, 2020

***UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION***

Joyce Lee (Perkins) Kreider, 82, of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born in Flemingsburg, KY to the late John and Ada Lee (Emmons) Perkins. In addition to her parents and five brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her beloved son Kyle R. Kreider.

Joyce moved to the Harrisburg area in 1952, but remained a Southern woman at heart, sharing traditions from “down home” with friends and family in Pennsylvania. She made friends everywhere she went and cultivated close friendships from all parts of her life. Joyce was the life of every party she attended, usually both the first and last person on the dance floor. She had a gift for making people feel special, an infectious sense of humor, and creativity to spare. She contributed her many talents and abundant energy to family and friends, spending her life in service to those she loved. She had an immense heart and made it a habit to leave things more beautiful than she found them.

She spent many treasured moments at the Country Club of Harrisburg, where she fostered a lifelong love of playing tennis and golf. She was also a longtime member of the Hershey Racquet Club and recent member of Liberty Forge.

Joyce graduated in the class of 1955 from the former William Penn High School in Harrisburg and was a graduate of the Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts.

She is survived by her husband Raymond E. Kreider, Jr.; two daughters, Jill R. Cantrell of Southlake, TX and Kendra L. Kreider of Washington, D.C.; son-in-law Michael Cantrell; grandson Kyle M. Cantrell; twin brother Jack Perkins and wife Mary of Lemoyne; sister Jane Ruth Williams of Lexington, KY; and a large extended family in Kentucky.

Due to the Coronavirus situation, Joyce's service on Monday, March 16, has been cancelled. While the family hopes to hold a Celebration of Life in the future, no specific date has been set. If you would like to stay apprised to future plans, please email Joyce's family at joycekreiderRSVP@gmail.com. A private burial took place in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Joyce may be made to the Kyle R. Kreider Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lehigh University (gocampaign.lehigh.edu; enter Kyle R.
