Kathleen Margaret Charest

Kathleen Margaret Charest, 78, of Lynn, MA, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, died quietly at home on Monday, July 19, 2021.

She worked for many years as an elementary school teacher, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree from Shippensburg University. Kathy was a talented seamstress, quilter and knitter, who at one point even spun her own yarn. She loved dogs, watching tennis and traveling.

Born in Tulsa, OK, on Tuesday, March 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Kathryn M. (Balbaugh) John. Her husband of more than 30 years, US Navy Capt. Philip G. Charest, predeceased her in 2015.

Surviving are her son, Edward Parsons Moore III (Terry) of Washington, DC; her daughter, Kathleen Margaret Maile Moore (Maile) of Lynn, MA; step-son, Steven P. Charest of New Cumberland; step-daughters, Anne M. Gilbertson of Etters; Barbara J. Charest of Huntsville, AR; Margaret L. Davis of Phoenixville, PA; and Mary E. Iorio of Beverly Hills, MI; a brother, Jerome F. John of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Janet E. Shepherd of St. James City, FL; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 30, at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.
